Jessie tugged as the skirt to her dress groaning. She hated wearing dresses but of course the thought of sleeping and wearing her clothes again made her skin crawl.
So the dress it was and it was going to be that way until Over Seer returned and she could go home. Stumbling over a rock Jessie's heart twisted and she gasped.
She didn't want to admit out loud that half the reason she followed the talking wolf was because she had hoped to see her sister and the thought that she might go home without her was too much pain for Jessie to take.
As she came to a stop to collect her breath she saw an opening in the tunnel she was following and quickly moved in hearing a soft trickle of water flowing, gasping once more she saw a beautiful sight before her.
The cave she had entered was large roughly the size of a foot ball field and at the far end a small water fall spread water around the cave in a small gutter. Torches were placed around the room, stepping in Jessie couldn't help the smile lighting her face. Stepping over to the water she bent down and ran her fingers through the clear water surprised at how warming it felt. Looking into the water she saw something shimmering at the bottom, with a frown she reached in and grabbed a wooden object. Lifting it up she saw it was a bow with it's strings in tact.

Charlie was looking for somewhere to think... he was sure that he needed to find Over Seer or even Theo. But he remembered his promise to Over Seer to stay out of trouble and keep the others safe, even if he could not understand that promise fully.
Walking through the Hogworths caves he headed to his favorite place, the large cave with a waterfall. Rubbing his eyes he smiled as he heard the water and rushed into the room probably ready to fall asleep once he settled down.
However that wasn't to be the case when he saw someone standing by the water holding what looked like a bow. Snapping his sword out he laughed when he saw it was Jessie, now in clothes that fit in with Mediocris. He smirked thinking she would make a prefect fighter... even standing among the archers ranks when the war came.

Jessie gasped and spun to find Charlie standing there smirking at her, rolling her eyes she looked at the wooden bow once more amazed by it's beauty and the cravings running along it.
"Don't you know not sneak up on someone" Jessie questioned moving over to a rock to sit down. Holding the bow up she plunked the strings smiling at the bows good condition despite being in the water.
"I thought you might be showing off for the girls" Jessie stated looking over to Charlie.

Charlie put his sword away still smirking before he looked to Jessie and watched her sit down. "I didn't mean to scare you... I simply needed a place to think and you have found my favorite spot" Charlie admitted before he walked over to Jessie and stood before her.
"I fear we have gotten off on the wrong foot... it wasn't my intention but none the less I feel I must make amends" Charlie admitted before bowing to Jessie grinning brightly.
"Charles Brennan my lady and it is a pleasure to meet you" Charlie stated before he bent and took Jessie's free hand and pressed a swift kiss to her knuckles. He let go of her hand and sat beside her looking around the cave before glancing at the bow in her other hand.
"Can you use that" Charlie questioned nodding to the bow before looking to Jessie. [[ try and resist that now]]

Jessie couldn't help but smile and blush when Charlie apologised... she ducked her head when he kissed her knuckles.
Thankfully she was able to stare at the bow when he asked her if she knew how to use it.
"Not much but a little... all girls archary competions, I came first two years running" Jessie admitted before she lifted the bow up and sighted a target. Remembering where she was she quickly lowered the bow and looked to Charlie.
"I can't use it... I'm not a fighter" Jessie admitted before chewing her lower lip, looking down she heaved a sigh playing her fingers across the engravings. "I don't even know what I'm doing here" Jessie whispered staring at the ground.

Charlie swallowed hard at her sad tone before lowering his head and leaning forward.
"Your a believer.... Over Seer wouldn't have chosen you if he didn't think you were right" Charlie admitted with a small smile.
"Besides I think with your stubborn nature and determination that I have seen so far I think you would make a great fighter" Charlie admitted with a board smile. Looking around Charlie heaved a sigh, he focused on the water fall and let the peaceful nature of the cave wash over him.
"I was six when I was brought here... I never fitted in back in the human world, and I never thought I would here but I found my place" Charlie admitted remembering how scared he had been when he first arrived.

Jessie frowned as she glanced to Charlie watching him so focused on the water fall before she looked down again.
She nudged his shoulder and gave him a look "Stubborn and determined are the same things" Jessie joked.
"I'm not excatly fighting material" Jessie admitted laughing slightly before looking to Charlie. "It's not a case of fitting in... I had my place in the human world... not a great place but it was mine, being here.... I remeber the stories and what happened. Over Seer chose my sister.... I don't know what has changed in eleven years but he chose my sister instead of me" Jessie admitted sadly remebering the night clearly.

Charlie laughed and nodded though he didn't say anything instead he listened to her. However he snapped his head to Jessie and felt a sadness swell up in him when she spoke of her sister. "Is that why your so eager to get back.... because you wasn't chosen the first time" Charlie questioned watching Jessie closely.

Jessie shook her head before jumping to her feet and spinning to face Charlie. "Don't you understand.... I'm not a fighter.... I'm seventeen years old for crying out loud... I go to a boarding school where I'm woken up by several girls snoring" Jessie demanded feeling the anger she had kept hidden for so long rise up in her.
"What would I know about fighting in a battle.... against a magical queen for a creature that kidnapped my sister" Jessie vented before panting and looking away.
"It's been eleven years... it's nothing you can usually shout at anyone without being thought crazy" Jessie admitted before collasping back in her seat and playing with the bow again.
"I do believe... in all this even before I turned up here" Jessie declared feeling foolish about blurting that all out.

Charlie rasied his eyebrows during Jessie's rant before he stared at her after she sat down. Unsure what to do he simply folded his hands before he and laughed, looking at Jessie he offered her an assuring smile.
"I think you may scare Moria all by your self" Charlie teased hoping to lift Jessie's mood. "We weren't kidnapped... we just believed enough to know that fighitng for what is right was our choice to make" Charlie admitted before leaning closer to Jessie.
"Your sister is a good fighter... if I knew she had a sister like you I wouldn't have worried about her so much" Charlie admitted with a grin before taking a deep breath he patted her back.

Jessie laughed before glacning at Charlie, she didn't want to admit that maybe she was wrong about him... she wished she could say sorry for the misunderstanding.
However when he said about knowing her sister she spun round and stared at him, hope swelling up.
"You know my sister... is she safe... is she here" Jessie questioned turning to face him more fully.

Charlie sat back when Jessie spun round... he flustered a little at how close they were sitting but he frowned and smiled.
"I know her yes... she is rather good with a bow" Charlie admitted before clearing his throat and dropping his hand from Jessie's arm and smiling embrassed.
"She is rather stubborn too... that's why she went after Theo, I can understand why now meeting you. But I promise you that she has been protected and always will be, I've come to think of her as a younger sister as does Theo" Charlie assured meeting Jessie's eyes firmly.

Jessie couldn't stop herself from beaming at Charlie the thought that her sister had been protected was comforting. However she threw her arms around him knowing she couldn't say thank you enough times.
"Thank you... for protecting my sister" Jessie thanked before pulling back blushing and ducking her head.
"I couldn't so... thank you and I guess I will have to thank Prince Theo also" Jessie admitted staring at the ground her bright still eched across her lips.

Charlie was shocked when Jessie flung her arms aroun him, he wasn't sure what to do. He was relieved and sad when she let go of him. Scrubbing at the back of his neck he smile slightly when Jessie thanked him... it was really nothing for him to, he felt it was his duty to look after all of the younger fighters.
"Well if I knew a simply few words would get a smile from you I would have said them long ago" Charlie admitted offering his own bright smile back.
"You don't have to thank me... Theo that's another matter you must take up with the prince but it was my pleasure, Katie is like my baby sister.... annoying but so innocent" Charlie admitted laughing. Katie was a wonderful girl... sometimes he wondered if she needed to be here at all but then he remebered never to mention that to her for fear of being hit.

Jessie laughed and looked to Charlie before raising her eyebrow in mock annoyance.
"You no doubt thought I was annoying when you first met me" Jessie stated as she shook her head before sighing.
"Is she happy" Jessie asked seriously. It was her biggest fear that her sister would be unhappy or even scared... of course trying not to believe in Mediocris she could only think bad thoughts. But now she knew her sister was safe after all these years.
Jessie hoped she was just as happy.
