[this is just a testing thread.... this is not connected to any other thread. Post once and the Lady of the Lake will answer you only once. Gifts are seen fit to give by admin]
This lady was a powerful Queen during the golden age of Mediocris. Queen Adyna Lywn was a powerful witch who reigned for many centuries with a kind and generous hand.... but as she aged she feared the power still growing inside of her would consume her beloved lands.
The night upon which her heir was announced as King of Mediocris she flung her self into the lake at the heart of Mediocris, she turned it white the moment she breathed her last breath.
For all those who wish to drink or touch the lake if they are pure of heart no danger will befall them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Come to me my children... my innocents.... my hope. I offer you the protection of Mediocris, if you only ask me your question...
Selena stumbled blindly through the woods, pushing back branches, bare feet scratching as she stepped over rocks. The woods were dark and scary, the calls of various creatures coming at her from all sides, driving her to move faster, and faster, until she finally got out into the open.
With a cry, she fell to her knees, trying to catch her breath. The cool air od the evening burned her lungs, and she began to cry, tears coming down her cheeks for the fifth time in less than twenty four hours. What was going on? First she was sick, then she was taken from her parents by a talking wolf, who told her she was some Chosen girl out of twenty children...
Her mind spun, dizzy from misunderstanding as she looked up to see a lake before her. Her crying stopped. 'It's white...' she whispered, crawling slowly towards it. She was mistified, almost hypnotized as she made her way towards it. A part of her wanted to touch it, a stron part of her, but she was uncertian, especially with everything going on around her. Should she? Would the lake talk, too, or something? Curiousity overpowered doubt, and she reached out, letting her middle finger slowly lower itself. The tip lightly touched the water, sending out a small ripple, slowly growing larger...
Arising from the water the moment contact was made the ghostly white figure of the lady of the lake looked to the child seeking her help. Smiling down at her the lady bowed her head to the girl before moving foward.
"My dearest one... you seek so many answers to so many questions... I can not calm all your fears. But I assure you that your destiny has been set in motion already. The moment of your birth you part to play in the up coming war was already mapped out." The soothing tone flowed from the ghostly figure.
"Your body is weak but your will is strong... you will be tested beyond any means you can imagine but I promise that when the end comes peace will find you and you will understand the importance of your parents choice" The lady promised before holding her hand out to Selena and smiled down at her.
In her hand sat a dagger craved out of ice, ancient signs belong to the oldest of creatures in Mediocris circled their way around the handle.
"You will know when you must use this... do not fear what you must do, lives lost have been destined and those who must leave this world will find peace with me and the others of generations past" the lady promised before she moved backwards the water circling around her as she returned back to her slumber.
A gift given... a destiny promised... Selena will understand why things happen the way they do.
Selena was left to tremble with fear and awe, gazing at the place where the lady had disappeared. Her heart pounded deafeningly in her skull, but there was an odd sense of peace about her. She felt as if she didn't have to worry... just like the woman had said... She looked to the dagger, holding it up as she observed it. It was beautifully carved... just a beautiful piece of work... You will know when you must use this... She looked up to the water, a small smile on her face. For the first time, she allowed herself to believe everything that had gone on, everyhting that had happened to her. It was relieving, like jumping in a pool after running around on a hot summers day. This was like nothing she'd ever imagined and everything she'd dreamed of. A world, other than her own... magic...The feeling gave her a sense of freedom, one that filler her with an energy that made her believe she could fly. The feeling was so powerful, so uplifting, that she began to cry and laugh, at the same time. She couldn't help it. It just came out. Anyone who'd seen her would think she was insane, but she didn't care. Welcome she thought, smiling inwardly as she remembered the words of the wolf who'd brought her, To Mediocris...
