~~Character~~
Name: Addie 'Adelphie' Elsa Beauchamp
Age: 17
Species: Human/Siren*
Side: Good
Appearance: Although she is close to official 'adulthood', Addie has yet to loose the 'doe-eyed childhood innocence look'. Mainly, this is held up with her eyes; brilliant blue-ish grey; prominate in her fine-boned face, and framed in a longish forest of dark lashes. It doesn't help that, besides her prominate cheekbones...she still has a child-like 'round and softness' to her chin, and definately her nose. Rather than tan in the sun; Addie is near as milky-skinned as a shut-in; instead, she is peppered with a steady collection of pinprick freckles; more uncollective drops of pale tea, surrounded with dark black hinting brown hair; forever wavey, and sometimes frizzed out, that falls to just below her shoulders.
It doesn't help with the lack in height. Yep, at 5"1...she has all the en-massed threatening power of a tantruming ten year old; greatly disillusioning, of course; for if it's anything Addie can do, it's hold her own. Her limbs is where any of her height, if in, is kept. In her father's words...she's stick armed, and with fingers only suited to a pianist, or a pickpocket.
Face Claim: Zooey Deschanel
Personality: Addie, as a rule, is a softer-spoken girl. If a leader; not a follower. And if anyone would have met her sister; and her deceased mother; they would never look at her as the same family lines. As childish as she looks, in a group, Addie tends to go for voice of reason/ persudo-negotiator whenever a fix comes up. It takes a whooooole lot to get Addie ruffled. She is not an easy screamer, seeing, again, that her mother's side of the family would add complications onto that.
She has an artist's soul at heart. She is sensitive about things she does; and depending on the outcome of what others think, she can be absolutely overjoyed, or emotionally downtrodden. She is a true follower; always looking for praise for her help...and encouragement.
Skills: A pitch-perfect singing voice that has a hypnotically soothing effect on most people of the male persuasion, and a few females (though far from as powerful). At rare moments, when she is angry enough, she has a volume that can shatter a few windows, and create and insta-headache to anyone close...including her.
Weapons: Fists and teeth are her main weapon; but she is becomming skilled in whatever-the-heck is close enough to grab and use.
History:Adyan was her father; a human traveller who one day happened upon a dripping wet woman who's voice enchanted her with honey'd promises. It was a rather familiar story for her mother, Endorellia's kind - many love affairs had happened the same way. In a one side relationship that Adyan believed was mutual, in his state; they sired their daughter; Adelphie. A year later, there was another girl: Elphida: born to the couple. As for the two girls, while Addie was as quiet as her father, and looked like her mouther, Elphida inherited both her mother's looks, and her boisterous attitude.
But times were not well in the world...and Adyan grew worried for his children in the rise of Moira. He wanted to take his children; though Endorellia originally refused. Between the two of them, it was decided the siblings could be seperated; so in the still of the night, Adyan took Adelphie and ran; not just across Mediocris Terra, but into the other world.
In the other world, they took up a last name, of Beauchamp. Addie was simply know as that; Addie, and Adyan told her nothing of her home, hoping she was too young to remember (and indefinately suceeding, she was hardly a year old when her sister was born, and her father whisked her away.) But as soon as she uttered her first word...it was clear that Addie had inherited some of her mothers....talents. Just how much of that...was not quite know before Adyan was struck down. At six years old...Addie skipped home to find a odd man, an overseer waiting for her...and her father simply...missing.
It seemed that her sister and mother were no longer pleased with Adyan and Adelphie's missing status. When a search for them across their home world proved nothing; they realized he had escaped into the World. Endorellia wanted her child back...and risked her health for an alliance - with Moira. The siren new power...and by this time...there was a definate favor in the if you couldn't beat them, join them section.
So, Moira had sent some...friends...to speak with her father...but thing had gone wrong. While Addie was returned to her home world in confusion...eleven years ago...she was never handed over to her mother. Suffering from her treck outside the limitations of water...Endorellia grew ill...and eventually passed; leaving a daughter Elphida to be raised under the influence of Moira and her followers. Needless to say, a sisterly relationship is not gonna happen anytime soon.
Personal text: Silence is Golden; but music can be silver.
* A siren is a being closely related to the mermaid...in that they are both, at heart...water-dwellers...or at least, always dwell close to water. Sirens, however, for all appearances are human women; who can swim pretty much like a fish, with a lung capacity similar to a dolphins' (if they are the purest of blood, there has been rumored that they never need to come up for air). They can dwell in both land and water, but prefer grottos, or secluded shorelines. They are rather nasty bits of work; many famous Sirens have sported violent tempers and absolute disdain for the male population. Siren's have a control over their voices that is rather astounding. They can suceed piercing pitches that can break glass; at any age. As a adult...some have been able to inflict permanent or at least temporary hearing loss on a hapless victim. But it is the hypnotising abilities when in a singing voice that leads to their worst traits. For the male population, Sirens are rather...dangerous; as their voices entrance men to follow them to the ends of the world...or rather...right into the deep end of a lake, river or sea...where, of course, they promptly drown. Whole boats have been lost to them. There has been a recent decline in their numbers; as male sirens are immencely rare, and even then, only half of them reach maturity (males are completely mute). Some sirens, such as Adelphie's mothers, have taken to seducing male humans, in order to get themselves pregnant; the exchange being that they would allow their mates to go free if they conceived. It is very rare that the man would take the child and leave; but Adyan did.
The only surefire way to tell a pure Siren from a regular old sweet-voiced human; is their hair. Almost all of them seem to be of a greecian or russian extent - bright eyes and dark hair; but a pure Siren's hair will always remain sopping wet; no matter how long she remains out of the water. Half Sirens- like Addie, can have dry hair...but once they get it wet....it tends to stay wet much, much longer than it would take to dry...days longer. For a pure siren, being kept away from water for an extended period of time would have a similar effect as a killer whale taken away from their ocean...they would sicken, and eventually die.
