The loud snores from the seven other girls was what woke her. At least if questioned why she was up so late she would state the fact.
But the truth was Jessie had woken after yet another nightmare, one that had been plaguing her since her baby sister was kidnapped.
Not kidnapped recruited the thought bounced around Jessie's head until she shook it loose.
It was silly to believe in fairy tales at the age of 17 and it was more silly to believe that her sister was anything but kidnapped.
Sighing Jessie swung her legs out from beneath the covers and hissed when her bare feet touched the cold floor. During the summer the cold floor was bearable but during the winter when the headmistress demanded all the girls in bed by 11 pm it was a nightmare.
Jessie pulled her sneakers to her and slipped her feet in, letting the breath she was holding to flood out of her before she flung the covers back and padded to the window.
The moon was high and her only visible company for this night which suited Jessie.
A girl snorted in her sleep and Jessie rolled her eyes and prop her head on her upturned hand, watching the night scene.
The woods laid still in the moonlight, the grass showed it's first signs of being kissed by dew.
At first all seemed so peaceful and still out side but a sudden movement caught Jessie's cool blue eyes. There below the window was a gray wolf... the same gray wolf that had been prowling around the grounds for several weeks now.
Sneaking a glance over her shoulders Jessie made sure her fellow dorm mates were fast asleep before she turned and sprinted back to her bed. Grabbing her jeans and a jumper she quickly changed out of her bed clothes and rushed out of the dorms.
